Celebration in Rosenheim: 100 years of wooden training and your future!
Rosenheim, Deutschland - On July 4, 2025, a special anniversary was celebrated in Rosenheim: "100 years of wooden training". Organized by the Technical University of Rosenheim, the State University of Rosenheim and the Rosenheim e.V. Rosenheim has established itself over the decades as the global center of wooden competence.
At the event, Prof. Heinrich Köster, President of the TH Rosenheim, emphasized the high quality of wood training, which contributes decisively to securing skilled workers. Klaus Stöttner, chairman of the university council, also emphasized how important this training is for the economic development of the region. The challenges of the future, such as artificial intelligence, BIM, Circular Economy and Climate Silence, are already found in the curricula and show that training remains at the pulse of time. Prof. Thorsten Ober, Dean of the Faculty of Wood Technology and Construction, added that the curricula is continuously adapted to these current developments.
new courses and perspectives
A special part of the offer at TH Rosenheim is the International Bachelor of Wood Technology. This course offers young people the opportunity to profile themselves at an international level in the area of wood technology and thus to secure excellent professional prospects. The course opens the door for diverse tasks in companies, public administrations and free appointments. Graduates are well trained in order to take on planning, building physics, manufacturing and economic tasks in timber construction.

alumni and future visions
At the ceremony, the alumni conversation round was a highlight. Former graduates shared their experiences and illustrated how wood -based training shaped their career. This feedback is not only encouraging for prospective wood technicians, but also a valuable contribution to the further development of the training offer.
Working as a wood technician ranges from planning to customer care. These specialists control manufacturing processes, design products and work in quality assurance. Those who continue here have the opportunity to significantly increase their salary. On average, the content of a state -certified wooden technician in Bavaria is over 3,000 euros gross, depending on the region and individual career.
With the wooden training in Rosenheim, not only a long tradition is celebrated, but also a look at the promising future of the industry. Is the training perhaps the key to a new, sustainable handling of our valuable resource wood? Only time will show it.
