Geis-Group takes over Agotrans: Growth in the Rhine-Main area!
The Geis group, a renowned provider of logistics services with headquarters in Bad Neustadt an der Saale and a tradition over 75 years, continues its expansion course. As of July 1, 2025, the company took over Agotrans Logistik GmbH from Rodgau near Frankfurt. The Geis group thus strengthens its presence in the important Rhein-Main area, a center of German economy and logistics.
With this takeover, the Geis group not only consolidates its position, but also consistently expands its network in the area of integrated data logistics (IDS). Agotrans is an established family company that has been active on the market for over 50 years and employs around 120 employees. Agotrans services include national and European general cargo traffic, partial and complete loads as well as contract logistics and special automotive services. Agotrans also belongs to the cooperation of online system logistics, which further promotes cooperation in the industry. "The Frankfurt region optimally complements our road network," emphasizes a spokesman for the Geis group.
The way to takeover
The Geis group has invested in growth in recent years. The grass group from Neuwied was already taken over at the beginning of 2025 and the Krüger-Spedition from Göttingen was taken over in April. These activities are part of a comprehensive strategy that aims to expand the market shares and optimize the services for customers. The current takeover of Agotrans is another step in this strategy and is subject to antitrust approval.
dr. Thomas Wernig, who has headed Agotrans since 2018, will remain in the company by mid -2026 to ensure a smooth transition. Particularly gratifying for the employees: All jobs at AGOTRANS should be preserved, and the confidants are still available.
logistics market at a glance
The logistics industry is on the upper in Germany. Sales in the logistics market will be estimated at around 331 billion euros for 2025, which means an increase of 19 % compared to 2019. The Geis Group is thus involved in the ranks of the large providers-among other things, in addition to DHL and DB Schenker, which are among the largest companies in this sector. After all, the logistics industry has an impressive share of around 47 % in the entire German market, which clearly shows how important this sector is for the German economy.
Due to the dynamic development in the logistics market, especially in regions such as the Ruhr area, Halle/Leipzig, Frankfurt and Munich, the demand for efficient logistics solutions is becoming increasingly pressing. Transport and logistics are therefore not only of economic relevance, but also of strategic importance for the future of trade and industry in Germany.
The Geis Group shows with the takeover of Agotrans that you are relying on the right course and expanding your engagements in promising markets. The company has proven a good hand - and there is certainly still a lot of potential in this growing industry.
