TSG U17 loses to Regensburg: Match with lessons for the future!

On November 15, 2025, the TSG Hoffenheim U17 team suffered a narrow defeat against SSV Jahn Regensburg in the DFB youth league. The game ended 0-1, with the thriller taking place on a small artificial turf pitch in Regensburg, where the conditions were anything but easy. Both teams didn't have 100% chances in the first half, and so the score went into the break with a fair 0-0.

Coach Tobias Schilk made it clear after the game that the draw at halftime was a logical result. In the second half, Hoffenheim put in a decent performance, but were unable to take advantage of their opportunities. The shock came in the 59th minute when Arian Dizdarevic scored the decisive 1-0 for Regensburg. Schilk praised the opponent's goal as an “amazing Sunday shot” and admitted that Regensburg was also lucky in some situations. Despite the deficit, Hoffenheim didn't give up and tried to equalize until the final whistle.

The path for Hoffenheim

The U17's next game is on November 22nd against FC Augsburg, a direct competitor in the fight for the top of the table. Augsburg are just three points behind Hoffenheim, who are in first place in the table with 27 points. Hoffenheim's U17s have played 11 games so far, including 9 wins and 2 draws. That looks promising, even if the last defeat obviously hurts.

The current table illustrates the tight conditions in the league:

Place team games Victories draw Defeats Goals Goals conceded Points
1 TSG 1899 Hoffenheim 11 9 2 0 35 7 27
2 FC Augsburg 12 7 3 2 33 15 24
3 1. FC Nuremberg 11 5 2 4 28 24 17
5 SSV Jahn Regensburg 11 4 4 3 32 19 16

The number of spectators in the stadium was 99, a clear sign that the fans support the venue and the classic youth games. Referee Clemens Bartlau officiated the game without any major controversy, which pleased the spectators.

Despite the defeat, Schilk emphasized the importance of learning from such games and continuing to stay diligent. It will be exciting to see how the U17s perform in the coming matches, especially in the duel against FC Augsburg, which could be crucial for the rest of the season.
