Regensburg's Building Culture Days 2025: Innovative solutions for single-family homes!
The anticipation in Regensburg is increasing: the fourth Regensburg Building Culture Days will take place from October 31st to November 14th, 2025 in the M26, Maximilianstrasse 26. This initiative, organized by the Regensburger Architekturkreis, ArchitectsForFuture Regensburg and Bauwärts gGmbH, aims to present innovative solutions for the future of single-family home areas. At a time when climate change and scarce resources pose major challenges, exchange between experts, owners and the public is very important. Regensburg.de reports that many of the existing single-family home neighborhoods, originally developed between the 1960s and 1980s, are now in dire need of a refresh.
The discussions will primarily focus on central problems: loneliness, self-sufficiency, the preservation of the buildings and the necessary renovations are the focus. It becomes clear here that municipalities must work on their urban and community development in order to meet the needs of the population. It is also important to accommodate new residents without designating new development areas. The M26 venue acts as a central place for dialogue and building culture.
Variety of programs and exciting exhibitions
The event program is supplemented by a variety of workshops for municipalities and homeowners. The vernissage of the exhibition “Rethinking Living”, which opens on October 31, 2025 at 7 p.m., is particularly recommended. A future workshop for municipalities will take place on November 5th, followed by an introductory lecture on the citizens' initiative “HouseEurope!” and a film evening on November 6th. Another highlight is the workshop “Room enough – thinking further about EFH” on November 13th, which starts at 4:30 p.m., followed by a specialist lecture by Prof. Nanni Grau (TU Berlin) on the topic of “Single-family homes for everyone!”. The crowning finale of the Building Culture Days will be celebrated from 8 p.m. The program promises exciting input and plenty of space for discussions.
The exhibitions “Rethinking Living” at the TH Lübeck and “Fix it! HouseEurope!” from the citizens' initiative “HouseEurope!” offer interesting perspectives on modern living concepts. A collaboration between the research project “Life in front of the city” at Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences and the Wüstenrot Foundation is also presented and provides valuable impulses for the discussion about the future of our living culture.
In these dynamic times, it is crucial to recognize new professional horizons and adapt to changing planning processes. The professional policy discussions about adapting to current circumstances will be an important part of the Baukulturtage and should not be missed by anyone interested. Regensburg.de notes that an open and diverse dialogue is required here.
