Cat seriously injured: Police are looking for its owner after an accident near Pfaffenhofen

Early on Sunday morning, November 16, 2025, a cat was hit by a driver near Pfaffenhofen. The 18-year-old driver reported the incident to police shortly before 4:30 a.m. Immediately after the colleagues arrived, the seriously injured cat was taken to a veterinarian in Pfaffenhofen. X-rays quickly confirmed that the injuries were serious: a fractured pelvis and other internal injuries were diagnosed.

A little later, the police transported the injured cat to the emergency clinic in Ismaning, where an operation was carried out. Unfortunately, despite all efforts, the cat's life could no longer be saved. The cat was a well-groomed Main Coon male with long, beige fur and was about one to two years old. A sad fate that affects animal lovers. The police are now searching in vain for the cat's owner, who unfortunately was not chipped. Information about this can be given to the police on 08441/8095-0.

A sad incident

How many times have we heard of similar incidents? Unfortunately, traffic accidents involving animals are not uncommon, and the animals often do not notice the dangers of the roads. This happens particularly often at dawn and dusk, as well as at night or in bad weather. In such critical situations, drivers must be particularly careful and prepared to brake in good time in an emergency. Warning by honking can help get animals off the road. That's why everyone who drives should also pay attention to animal welfare rules.

In the event of a collision with an animal, you need to act quickly: stop, secure the scene of the accident and notify the police or a game warden. There are clear legal requirements as to what must be done to legally protect both the animal and any damage. Things get particularly bad when drivers simply continue driving after an accident involving a pet, which is not only a criminal offense but can also be considered animal cruelty. A mistake that can easily be avoided causes serious damage.

Looking for the owner

The search for the owner of the catastrophically injured cat raises questions: What can we do to ensure our animals are protected from such tragedies? Every pet should be appropriately secured, for example by a microchip, which enables quick contact with the owner. Because in the event of injuries, our animal friends depend on our help. The police are now open to anyone who can provide information about the cat.

In this context, it is important that all pet owners take responsibility for their pets. You should be aware of the risks associated with animal life, especially near roads. In the event of an accident, it is not only a moral but also a legal duty to ensure that these animals in need are not forgotten.
