Lebenshilfe Nürnberger Land celebrates 75 years of Gerhard John: A life's work!

Nürnberger Land, Deutschland - Today, the chairman of Lebenshilfe Nürnberger Land, Gerhard John, celebrates his 75th birthday. One reason to look back on a dazzling life's work that is characterized by humanity and social engagement. Gerhard John saw the light of day on July 15, 1950 in Leinburg and went into professional life after visiting the Leibniz Gymnasium in Altdorf. After his basic military service, he was drawn to administrative work, where he worked as a business economist and a graduate administrator. Most recently, he acted as a head of the administrative board and chief official of the city of Altdorf with a special focus on cultural, social and economic policy.

Gerhard John has been directing the fortunes of Lebenshilfe Nürnberger Land since 1996 and has undergone an impressive development under his direction. During these years, the organization grew into one of the largest social institutions in the region and now looks after over 1,500 families with 800 employees in 24 institutions. John is not only referred to as "the face and the heart of life aid", but has also received numerous awards for his commitment. Among other things, he was awarded the Golden Badge of Honor of the Federal Association of Lebenshilfe in 2010 and the medal of merit on the ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2013.

a life for the community

The recognition of John's work recently came in the form of the Bavarian Constitutional Order, which Landtag President Ilse Aigner presented to him in a solemn framework. This order appreciates citizens who have particularly deserved the implementation of the principles of the Bavarian constitution. In her eulogy, Aigner John's tireless commitment to inclusion and commitment emphasized in a wide variety of social areas. "He lives the values of the constitution and protects our democracy," says Aigner.

John's commitment is remarkably diverse: he is not only deputy chairman of Lebenshilfe Bayern, but also worked as a lecturer at the Bavarian Administrative School and worked in the district council for several years. His role as a business -guiding official and volunteer judge testifies to a deep understanding of social issues and the willingness to take on responsibility.

The importance of volunteering

The Lebenshilfe Nürnberger Land is unthinkable without the many volunteers who are committed to people with disabilities. Volunteering is very important in life aid, because without the support of volunteers, many cultural and social activities would not be possible. Inclusion can only be realized through community action, which John impressively underlines through his own example. The contact with Lebenshilfe is facilitated in many ways, and many organizations have their own volunteer officers who act as contact persons.

Despite his now 75 years, Gerhard John adheres to his commitment and remains loyal to his family of life. He emphasizes the importance of social responsibility, especially in moving times, and will continue to promote the development of life aid and the support of the people in the region.

in a world where care is often neglected, Gerhard John is a shining example of the positive change that an individual can cause.
