66-year-old from Neustadt missing – police are asking for information!
A 66-year-old man from the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district, Klaus R., has been missing since June 19, 2025. The last time he was seen by a family member was on the evening of June 18th when he drove off from his home in Störnstein in his white VW Caddy (built in 2017, registration number NEW-HG 198). The local authorities, including the Neustadt an der Waldnaab police station and several fire brigade teams, have already initiated extensive search measures, but so far without success, as [Nordbayern](https://www.nordbayern.de/polizeiberichten/66-jahriger-aus-der-oberpfalz-vermisst-fahndung-bisher-fruchtlos-polizei-bittet-um- notices-1.14731662) and Oberpfalz24 report.
Klaus R. is described as being around 1.82 meters tall and with a strong build. He weighs around 100 kilograms and has a striking gray fringe of hair. On top of that, he speaks the typical Upper Palatinate dialect, which makes him well-known in the region. At the time of his disappearance, the missing man was wearing blue jeans, a polo shirt and a dark blue padded jacket without sleeves, and he was also carrying a small black travel bag.
Current search measures
The police are urgently asking the public for information about Klaus R.'s whereabouts or his vehicle. All information can be sent directly to the Neustadt an der Waldnaab police station on 09602/9402-0 or via the police emergency number 110. The police are obviously keen to make the search for the missing person successful as quickly as possible and are using every opportunity to collect tips from the public.
According to information from the [Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA)](https://www.bka.de/DE/ UnserAufgabe/Ermittlungsunterstuetzung/BearbeitungVermisstenfaelle/arbeitungVermisstenfaelle.html), people are considered missing if they are absent without explanation and there is a risk to life or limb. As a rule, the police immediately start searching if such conditions are met. This is particularly true for adults who suddenly and unexpectedly disappear.
It is worrying to see how many people go missing in Germany every year. The BKA reported that there were around 9,420 ongoing missing person cases at the beginning of 2025. What is particularly noteworthy is that a large majority of cases – over 80 percent – can be resolved within a month. Nevertheless, the situation for the relatives of the missing remains extremely tense. The case of Klaus R. shows once again how important the community's attention is in such critical situations.
