Mühldorf celebrates third place at the German Kita Prize 2025!

Great news from the Mühldorf district: The family education network took third place in the “Local Alliance for Early Education of the Year” category at this year’s German Kita Prize. The award was presented on November 28, 2025 in Berlin, and there is great joy about it. Carolin Jürgens, the network coordinator for on-site learning at the district office, was visibly pleased with the honor and the associated prize money of 10,000 euros. Mühldorf is the only Bavarian initiative that made it onto the winner's podium.

Around 600 institutions and alliances from all over Germany were in the running at the award ceremony, which was led by the well-known presenter Barbara Schöneberger. With the award, the German Ministry of Education and Family and the German Children and Youth Foundation give well-deserved recognition to those committed to early education. This honors innovative approaches that can have a lasting, positive impact on children's lives. All prize winners are presented in detail on deutscher-kita-preis.de.

A network with heart and mind

The Mühldorf family education network, which has existed for over 15 years, brings together daycare centers, advice centers, family centers and early education partners. Six family bases in Mühldorf, Waldkraiburg, Gars, Ampfing, Niederbergkirchen and Oberbergkirchen offer comprehensive support for parents to meet the needs of families. The jury particularly praised the network's data-supported educational monitoring, which was based on parent surveys and thus enabled a targeted needs analysis.

District Administrator Max Heimerl was proud of the award and emphasized the importance of community work for early childhood education. The combination of offers such as professional symposiums, moderated exchanges and game afternoons helps ensure that parents find the support they need. In Mühldorf it is clear that cooperation in early education has a high priority.

Future-oriented use of the prize money

The prize money of 10,000 euros should be decided together with all bases. One possible use could be the development of a digital leisure map for families, which would provide easy orientation through the close networking of family bases. This measure aims to further support the compatibility of family and work. The challenge remains to provide support for parents while promoting strong coexistence for children, families and the entire community.

The German Kita Prize shows that good quality in early education is a continuous process that creates trust and cohesion. The award winners impressively demonstrate what is possible in early childhood education and thus provide clear inspiration for the future. On wasserburger-stimme.de the work of many people who are behind this success is also acknowledged. Congratulations to Mühldorf!
