Lyrical hike in Miltenberg: nature and poetry combined!
On August 10, 2025, an extraordinary hike took place in picturesque Miltenberg, bringing together both nature lovers and literature enthusiasts. Organized by Bernfried Geider, also known as the marathon man, the premiere of the OWK Miltenberg became an unforgettable lyrical expedition. Fans of poetry and nature enjoyed a mix of hikes and literary performances held in the open air. The meeting point was the Schützenhaus Miltenberg at 1 p.m., which created a convivial atmosphere and got the participants in the mood for the upcoming tour.
The hiking route stretched over 10 to 12 kilometers, with an altitude difference of around 300 meters. It was a beautiful day, ideal for exploring nature and the hearts of the participants. Lyrical performances at three stations along the way made this hike a special experience. The last stop, the picturesque Eichler Pond, impressed not only with its clear water surface, which reflected the surrounding nature, but also with the retrospective stories of Kurt Eichler, the pond's surprising namesake, who happened to be visiting that day.
A mix of art and nature
The hike was not only a pleasure for the eyes, but also for the ears. At the first stop, the group was treated to the works of Emerenz Meier, including “My Forest, My Life” and “Incorrigible”. These poetic impressions ensured that the participants were able to completely immerse themselves in nature. Joachim Ringelnatz had his say in the second section, who put everyone in a good mood with his humorous poems such as “Morgenwonne” and “A Male Stamp”.
The crowning conclusion was the picnic break at the Eichlerweiher, during which other works by well-known poets such as Heinz Erhard, Eugen Roth and Erich Kästner were recited. This stylish mix of poetry and nature made the hiking tour an unforgettable experience and gave those present the opportunity to enjoy it in good company.
A successful end
After the tour, some participants returned to the Schützenhaus, where they took the opportunity to chat over a cozy drink and reflect on the day. Such events not only promote a sense of community, but also bring cultural experiences into the beautiful nature of Bavaria.
The lyrical hike in Miltenberg was a complete success and gives hope for further events of this kind. My news reports on this successful premiere, which could certainly become an integral part of the region's event calendar.
