Tierheim Lichtenfels: Successful open day inspires visitors!
Last Saturday there was a lot going on in the city and district of Lichtenfels e.V. For the “Open Day”, numerous guests flocked into the nicely decorated facility from 9 a.m. In bright sunshine, visitors were warmly welcomed with Franconian beer tent sets and open stalls. The friendly staff and the well -placed board were ready to answer the questions of interested parties about the ongoing construction work that are in full swing due to the extensive renovation measures. Throw -down soil cutouts indicate that some efforts are still required to complete the overall concept.
was impressive, the already completed part of the home, which, with its light rooms and modern stainless steel furniture, caused big eyes. There were food in the form of small snacks and drinks, so that the physical well -being of the guests was also well taken care of. So it was an all -round successful day for all animal lovers!
futuristic plans and important support
As part of the event, information about upcoming events and needs of the shelter was also provided. The autumn flea market on October 4th and October 5, 2025 is due in the calendar, which many residents of the region are looking forward to. In addition, washing machine sponsorships are offered to ensure the urgently needed support in the shelter. The shelter is dependent on powerful washing machines in order to be able to manage the daily laundry mountains, which consist primarily of ceilings with animal hair.
The previous household machines are often overloaded and can no longer afford the mass of laundry. Interested parties can easily print out an application for a washing machine sponsorship, fill out and submit them in the shelter. This sponsorship is considered a donation and is tax deductible - a fine way to do something good. From an amount of 200 euros per year, even a granting certificate is issued. This is also a nice idea for gifts among animal lovers.
animal protection in Germany and the challenges
But the Lichtenfels animal shelter is not only with its challenges; The situation looks similar in the entire federal territory. Around 32 million pets live in Germany, including 8.6 million dogs and 13.4 million cats. Overcrowding in animal shelters is a serious problem that often arises from unwanted pets and a lack of education. Only about a quarter of the animals stay permanently in the homes and requires continuous care, as reports [Terra Mater] (https://www.terra-mater.de/news/details/ thousands-in-tierenheimen/). In Germany alone there are an estimated 1,400 animal shelters that supply around 400,000 animals annually.
The exposure of animals is not only immoral, but also punishable, with fines up to 25,000 euros. If an animal endangers, there is even up to three years in prison. In view of the current situation, it is more important than ever to raise awareness of animal welfare and promote adoptions. There are many animals who want to wait for a loving home and start a new life.
The animal shelter and its events offer a great opportunity to not only find out about the work of the facility, but also to actively contribute to animal welfare. Stay tuned for further events and support campaigns in 2025 to help together!
