Horticultural future secured: 59 graduates celebrate their graduation in Landshut!
A ceremonial acquittal was held at the Landshut-Schönbrunn Agricultural Education Center on July 29, 2025, at which 59 graduates of their horticultural vocational training were ceremoniously dismissed. The event attracted around 130 guests, including families, trainers and guests of honor, who shared this special moment with the newly qualified gardeners. How Gabot reported that the graduates were mostly from Lower Bavaria and did excellent work during their training.
The celebration was marked by recognition and cheers. In particular, the best graduates were honored: Lukas Kammermeier and Andreas Neudecker completed their training with top grades, while Maria Lohr, Marius Hartmann and Sebastian Wiche were honored third with identical grades in the dual study program in landscape construction and management. Jürgen Widl, chairman of the Lower Bavaria regional group of VGL Bavaria, presented the graduates with certificates of honor and construction site radios in recognition of their achievements.
Stimulation and reward
Stefanie Pahnke, head of the horticulture department at AELF Abensberg-Landshut, welcomed those present and emphasized the motivation of the graduates. In her speech, she emphasized that the gardening profession will continue to offer promising prospects in the future. Monika Linseisen, Vice President of the Government of Lower Bavaria, spoke about the important role of gardeners in the context of climate change and the need for water-sensitive planning and climate-resilient plant varieties - a necessity that is also considered fundamental in other federal states such as Lower Saxony.
The acquittal is a traditional custom that symbolically represents the dismissal of the trainees from the training relationship. It used to be customary for journeymen to invite their masters to a festive meal. Today the ceremony takes place in the cafeteria of Landshut University and creates a relaxed atmosphere full of pride and enthusiasm for the green sector.
Common challenges in the industry
The challenges of young gardeners were also addressed. Jürgen Widl praised the perseverance of the graduates and encouraged them to remain loyal to the profession. He noted that in other regions of Germany, such as Lower Saxony, the newly qualified gardeners were also honored as part of similar acquittal ceremonies. There, the graduates' achievements in extensive examinations were highlighted and the importance of the gardening profession in society was emphasized.
The celebratory atmosphere in Landshut was reflected not only in the warm congratulations, but also in the beaming faces of the graduates, who are now ready to start their careers in the colorful and varied world of horticulture. Let’s go – the green industry has a lot to offer and the future looks promising!
