Medieval rock from Altenkunstadt: Feuerwulf wins in the preliminary round!
An exciting weekend for the medieval rock band “Feuerwulf” from Altenkunstadt! On November 9th, 2025 they won the preliminary round for “Rock in Upper Franconia”. The performance took place in the “Struwwelpeter” in Kronach and was marked by a surprising victory. The band originally arrived without great expectations, but after a highly competitive performance, “Feuerwulf” prevailed against their competitors. Thanks to the health failures of another formation, they were given the opportunity to take part, which turned out to be a stroke of luck.
An emotional moment for the band: Martin Rehm, who passionately plays the hurdy-gurdy, and singer Jule Symowitsch were visibly touched after the victory. Symowitsch admitted that given the strong performances of the competition, they expected anything but a win. “It was just amazing!” this was their reaction after the decisive announcement.
Final with four groups
Now “Feuerwulf” goes to the final, where four groups will compete, each with a singer. This competition promises to be exciting and the anticipation in the region is already great. The band has made a name for itself with its unique mix of medieval instrumentation and modern rock elements.
