Free dementia screening day on September 27th in Kitzingen!

On Saturday, September 27th, 2025, a very special day will take place in the Caritas multi-generational house St. Elisabeth in Kitzingen. As part of the 6th Bavarian Dementia Week, the organizers invite you to a free dementia screening day aimed at all citizens aged 65 and over. Whether you have noticed memory problems yourself or relatives have noticed changes - everyone is welcome to check their own memory performance here.

The screening test, which is carried out between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., only takes 15 to 20 minutes. In a protected room, participants have the opportunity to test their cognitive skills in a scientifically based short test. However, the test does not offer a comprehensive medical diagnosis, but is only intended to provide initial indications of possible memory disorders and suggest the need for further clarification. According to the findings of DigiDEM Bavaria, 60 percent of those suffering from dementia live without a confirmed diagnosis. Early certainty can be a great relief for those affected and their relatives, as dementia diagnoses are often made late and usually when symptoms are advanced.

Details about registration and implementation

Anyone who would like to take part in the screening day must register in advance. Tanja Kraev is available on 09321/9165-422 - a call back is possible. Alternatively, interested parties can also send an email to [email protected] send. Access to the event site is barrier-free and parking is available at Schwalbenhof 1 and in the Unterer Mainkai 5A parking garage.

The dementia screening day is part of a larger initiative by DigiDEM Bavaria, which offers screening days in all seven administrative districts of Bavaria. These events are intended to particularly appeal to people aged 65 and over with memory impairment and provide valuable information on further dementia diagnosis. If there are any abnormal results, participants will receive contact details and information about further steps.

The relevance of such screening days is underlined by the fact that many people are often not detected in the early phase of the disease, making timely intervention difficult. The event in Kitzingen helps to raise awareness of the disease and offer possible help. The advertising drum is already being beaten in order to reach a large number of interested people.

Take the opportunity to educate yourself and your loved ones about possible memory problems. The dementia screening day in Kitzingen is not only an important step towards your own safety, but also a sign of solidarity and support for all those affected and their relatives. Just stop by and take the first step!
