Dänzelfest 2025: Brass music and parades make Kaufbeuren to celebrate!
The fragrance of fresh beer and the game of brass music were in the air when this year's dancel festival in Kaufbeuren was in full swing on July 20, 2025. Christian Demel, who feels very comfortable in the role of the landlord, welcomed the numerous visitors in the middle of the afternoon in front of the Kaufbeurer town hall. A stand concert by the music clubs from Kaufbeuren and the surrounding area marked the festive start of the day, which is also a tradition of the festival: the move of the landlord.
This year the move was particularly colorful. Departments of all Kaufbeurer shooting clubs, the traditional costume association "d’wertachtaler" and various showmen moved together with the fixed car of the stock brewery and the participating chapels from the old town to the fairground in the value loop. Among these chapels were the Dösingen Music Association, the Stadtkapelle Kaufbeuren and the Wiedemann brass band, to name just a few. A special honor was given to the Mayor Stefan Bosse, who conducted Georg Ried's "Allgäu Heimatmarsch".
children's festival with tradition
The dancel festival itself has such a long tradition that it is considered the oldest historical children's festival in Bavaria. It opened with a ceremonial opening on July 17, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. in the dance rondel at the fairground. The solemn framework with an ecumenical service, children's blessing, theater, music and dance made the hearts of the children beat faster. As a special highlight, the dancel festival fanfare by Mimi Gnedel-Hahn was premiered. Participation in the festival was only possible with a counting card and festival badge, which were distributed from June 30th. Admission is only possible via the main entrance and without a counting card, no access is possible, which increased the anticipation.
The old town turned into a lively medieval camp from July 18 to 19. Gaukler, craftsmen and knight games provided entertainment during the Häfelesmarkt on July 20 to 21 July attracted visitors with real crafts. Children up to the age of 14 even had free admission - a real highlight for the young visitors!
fixed removals and musical program
The highlight of the festival undoubtedly represented the big move. On July 20 and 21, Emperor Maximilian I moved into the city at 1:30 p.m. in front of the town hall, followed by around 1,850 children, 36 festivals and over 170 horses - a spectacular picture for the spectators! Then the traditional dances took place in the dance rondel and rounds from around 4:15 p.m.
The musical program delighted the ears of the festival visitors. On July 19, the beer tapping through OB Bosse and the Dösingen music club caused a festive start. On July 20, the Waalhaupten music band and the Musikverein Germaringen played, while the big end of the festival on July 27 with a spectacular brilliant fireworks will take place at 10:00 p.m.
The marquee, which the Römersperger and Richter family has managed for a total of 60 years, offers a lunch table every day from 11:00 a.m. and thus ensures the physical well -being of the Festis. So the small and large delicacies are well taken care of in order to be able to enjoy the dance festival to the fullest.
This is not only the local, but also many visitors from the area at this traditional event. The dancel festival offers something for everyone: from children's attractions to musical highlights. So, on the action, because the Kaufbeurer dancel festival is a must for everyone who wants to experience Bavarian culture up close!
