City cycles 2025: Cycling for climate protection in the Günzburg district!

In the district of Günzburg, it will soon be called "on the bikes, done, go!". From July 9th to 29th, this year's city cycling took place, which will be held in Günzburg for the tenth time. The aim of the competition is to contribute to climate protection and to raise awareness of sustainable mobility. Private individuals, clubs, schools and companies are called to collect their kilometers and to rely on environmentally friendly locomotion. Everyone is part of it, be it to school, work or during vacation.

A colorful supporting program accompanies the campaign. Among the cheering campaigns are guided bike tours to urban construction sites with the city architect and the building manager at the forefront. In addition, a bike star trip to the marketplace is waiting for the participants, where they are spoiled with a free drink. In addition, the cyclists can look forward to a digital scavenger hunt, where attractive profits are waving. The city of Günzburg shows that it is a real pioneer in the district as part of the city cycling initiative.

diverse events in the district

But the other communities also pull together: In Krumbach, a guided bike tour in the city park under the direction of a city guide starts on July 9th at 10 a.m. Here, too, there is a bike schnitzel hunt with great prices as well as other guided tours on July 13th and 27th in cooperation with the Heimatverein.

In Burgau, the special exhibition "Up on the bike: Burgau moves (itself)" is shown in the museum, which attracts bicycle enthusiasts and interested parties alike. The city also offers bike tours with the bicycle commissioner Heidi Häuser. A Highlight will be the exploration tour with mayor and city councils on July 21st.

For the first time in city cycling, Ichenhausen is also. This is where the opening tour begins on July 9 at 4.30 p.m. on Changée-Platz. The participating municipalities impressively show that cycling is attractive for all age groups and every opportunity.

the view over the borders

cycling is not only on the advance in the district of Günzburg. According to the Environmental Federal Agency , about a third of the car trips could be shifted to bicycle traffic in metropolitan areas. Cities like Copenhagen and Amsterdam are pioneering examples that show how high use of cycling has positive effects on the environment and quality of life.

Over 40 % of car journeys in major German cities are also shorter than 5 km, routes that can be covered quickly and environmentally friendly by bike. Cycling not only increases life expectancy, but also contributes to improving air quality by reducing CO2 emissions. Compared to cars, bicycle traffic hardly causes external costs. Especially in times of the climate crisis, the change to sustainable mobility is not only desirable, but decisive.
