Fever fairy in need: We are urgently looking for volunteers for sick children!

In the tranquil region around Gauting, the “fever fairies” are valuable support for parents of sick children. The childcare service, which belongs to the Stockdorf parent-child program (EKP), has proven indispensable in the past eight years. Now, however, the "fever fairies" are urgently looking for volunteers to continue their valuable work. Men are particularly desirable because so far women have mainly registered for care. Merkur reports .

The "fever fairies" are not only a friendly face in difficult times for the families concerned, but also a flexible solution: parents whose children cannot go to daycare, kindergarten or school due to illnesses, find reliable help here. A “fever fairy” comes home directly so that the parents can meet their professional obligations or make important appointments. The operations can vary between a few hours and a whole day as required, but overnight stays are not offered. It is particularly important that this support can also be used if the parents are ill.

How does the "fever fairy" work?

The concept is simple and well thought out: the aim is that the sick children can cure themselves stress -free while the parents can work. The care is aimed mainly at children between the ages of two and ten, since younger babies often remain 24/7 with the parents. Seven supervisors are currently active, with the "fever fairies" perform up to ten missions per month. Three new interested parties have already registered, but the targeted goal is a total of ten new “fever feen”. The EKP explains that the volunteers have to present a current certificate of good conduct and take part in first aid courses. An allowance of twelve euros per hour is paid, divided into six euros from the families and five euros for travel expenses. The rest is covered by donations and funding.

Doris Gebhardt, the coordinator of the program, is at your side at any time. If you want to find out more about the "fever fairies" or even help yourself, you can contact you on 0162/6001985. Inquiries are also welcome by e-mail at fieberfee@ekp.de.

The offer not only is aimed at Gauting, but also includes the surrounding communities of Gräfelfing, Krailling, Neuried and Planegg. In addition to the support that the "fever fairies" offer to the families, they also show how important volunteering is in the region. The service is part of the non-profit association parent-child program e.V. and belongs to the parity welfare association.
