CITY CYCLING 2025: Forchheim cycles over 350,000 kilometers!
An exciting chapter comes to an end today in the Forchheim district: The CITY CYCLING action weeks are coming to an end and the results are impressive. Over 2,500 citizens cycled along, and a total of 160 teams covered an impressive 350,000 kilometers. Even if the weather wasn't good on some days - the last week of the campaign brought guided bike tours, including a mountain bike tour through the Markwald and bike tours in Igensdorf and Ebermannstadt.
Particularly noteworthy were the mobile discussion with local councilors in Igensdorf and the guided bike tour with the city councilor along Ebser Favoritenweg 1 in Ebermannstadt. The Lias-Grube environmental station also offered a solar workshop for families in Unterstürmig. These events show that the CITY CYCLING weeks not only promote cycling, but also strengthen a sense of community.
Positive feedback and awards
The climate protection management of the Forchheim district draws a positive conclusion about the action weeks. Participants had until June 14th to add kilometers that had not yet been entered. Mileages will be reviewed until June 21st before final results are released on June 22nd. The winners, who will be honored in five categories, can look forward to receiving the award on August 14th during the Old Town Festival in Ebermannstadt.

A look into the future
But CITY CYCLING is not just an issue this summer. The city of Forchheim has already announced that it will take part in the campaign again from June 16 to July 6, 2024 to take part. In collaboration with the neighboring municipalities of Hallerdorf, Igensdorf and Neunkirchen a. Br. reiterates the goal of further promoting cycling to promote climate protection. Mayor Dr. Annette Prechtel encourages everyone to get actively involved, regardless of whether they live, work or go to school in Forchheim.
Registering to participate is easy and free and is already available now www.stadtradeln.de/landkreis-forchheim possible. The participants should cover as many of their everyday journeys by bike as possible, regardless of the type and destination of their route.
Finally, it remains to be said: Commitment to cycling is an important measure for climate protection. Climate protection through cycling is not just a trend, but a necessary step in the right direction. With the right support and the right projects, cycling can remain popular. Anyone who would like to get involved now will have plenty of opportunity to do so in the coming weeks and months!
