Magical moments: Magician delights children at Erlangen University Hospital!
The children experienced an incomparable atmosphere in the children's and youth clinic at Erlangen University Hospital when the magician Sebastian Lehmeier presented his magical show. With a lot of skill and a pinch of humor, he introduced the young audience to the world of illusions. The demonstration, which put a smile on the faces of the sick children and their relatives, was organized by the Herzpflaster e.V. association. V., which has been committed to supporting young heart patients and their families since 2013.
The performance began particularly impressively: Together with the children, Lehmeier conjured up a “magic wand” that gave the little magicians the opportunity to actively participate in the event. The children were amazed by the tricks they saw - from disappearing balls to indestructible ropes to a glowing magic book. This interactive world of experience caused amazement, laughter and one or two faces beaming with joy.
Magical moments and valuable experiences
Lehmeier, who discovered magic as a child, is also involved in training young magicians and offers workshops. In his show, the children were not only allowed to watch, but also had the opportunity to try out magic tricks themselves. This type of participation not only encourages children's creative thinking, but also strengthens their self-confidence. So the demonstration did more than just entertain – it provided a valuable learning experience.
The meaning of magic goes far beyond mere illusion. It has notable educational values. Magic promotes children's motor skills, especially fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Practicing tricks improves movement accuracy and dexterity while stimulating creativity and imagination. Children develop their own tricks and stories, which increases self-confidence and strengthens communication skills.
Future performances and support
Due to the great success of the previous performances, four more magic shows by Sebastian Lehmeier are planned for the Erlanger Children's Hospital next year. The Heart Plaster Association e. V. finances these campaigns in order to make the hospital stay a more pleasant and carefree time for the little patients. Marion Müller, the local contact person, is also available to interested families to provide further information. She can be reached on 09131 85-41207 or by email at marion.mueller(at)uk-erlangen.de.
Overall, it once again shows how valuable and enriching such events are for young patients. The magic of these unique moments not only remains in the children's memories, but also contributes to the positive development of their social and cognitive skills. This furthers the honorable mission of Herzpflaster e. V. supported in a remarkable way.
