tradition and innovations at the Bergkirchweih
The Bergkirchweih runs until June 16 and traditionally attracts numerous visitors. When Germany's oldest beer festival, founded in 1755, the festival attracts up to a million people in good weather. Mayor Florian Janik Stach started the first barrel and thus ceremoniously opened the 270th Bergkirchweih. The festivities stretch every day from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and wait for visitors with an extensive program. Around 90 snack bars and many rides, such as the Ferris wheel and chain pilots, provide entertainment.
The family day is particularly interesting this year, which will be celebrated on June 12th. On this day, the rides cost only half. The event also sets new accents: a mountain pin for five euros is sold, the proceeds of which benefit from an aid fund for Erlangen clubs. In addition, couples who want to get married on the mountain after a five -year break can prove this special step - three wedding couples have already been registered.
Security and arrival
In terms of security, it was also taken care of: the security forces check bags and backpacks at the entrances while the police monitors the festival site with video cameras. Drivers should prepare for additional closures in the inner city area and recommend travel without a car. A safe space for women and girls near the festival area also takes shape.
The Erlangen Bergkirchweih is not just a festival of beer, but a place of encounter and exchange. With shady beer benches under chestnut trees, visitors can enjoy the stone jugs of stone jugs and enjoy the diverse Franconian and international specialties.
