New railway line: Ebersberger district receives future -proof tracks!
The train causes excitement in the Ebersberg district again! Today, on June 11, 2025, Deutsche Bahn presented a video visualization of the planned two-track new line, which is to lead from Kirchseeon in the north to Grafing to Aßling in the south. The plans provide for a significant improvement in the infrastructure and are part of the project to expand the Brenner north inlet, which already had numerous discussions. Merkur reports that the route south of Kirchseeon passes into a four -track route that is expanded to six tracks. This is intended to significantly increase capacity for freight and passenger transport.
The planned intersection structure in the Kirchseeoner Moos towards Grafing will enable passenger rattles to overtake freight traffic. At Grafing-Bahnhof, new tracks for long-distance transport are created that will lead towards Brenner. A new west access and sound insulation measures are also part of the plan. These extensions are particularly important to improve the connection to national traffic flows.
A look at the history of the train
The railway has a long history in Germany that goes back to 1835 when the first German railway between Nuremberg and Fürth was opened. Since the 1840s, numerous train lines, which were built by various operators, both private and state -owned, have been built. bpb indicates that railway construction from 1850 was a driving force for the economic development. These foundations have paved the way for today's projects.
In the Ebersberg region, the railway has also developed strongly in recent decades. The Ebersberg train station was put into operation in 1899 and was therefore an important hub in rail traffic. Lars Brüggemann shows that the electrification of the railway line Grafing-Ebersberg 1969 is another milestone. Since then, the S-Bahn Munich, which has been going to Ebersberg since 1972, has been an integral part of the transport offer.
Future view
The new route also stipulates that a section of 3.7 kilometers is running in the salacht tunnel between Elkofen (Grafing) and Lorenzenberg (Aßling). This innovative planning, in which the tracks are put down on a slope, should maintain the visual axes on the villages and at the same time make traffic more fluid.
The felting bridge, which overcomes the gradient south of Aßling in the direction of Ostermünchen, is also particularly remarkable. On the outskirts of Niclasreuth, a covered trough is planned to get the street. These measures show that the planners have a good knack for a harmonious integration of the new tracks into the existing landscape.Overall, the new construction measures in the Ebersberg district will not only improve accessibility, but also make a contribution to more environmentally friendly mobility. It seems that the train is on the way to continue to establish itself as a backbone of regional traffic!
