New road in the Donau-Ries: renovation between Hohenaltheim and Diemantstein completed!
There is currently positive news for road users in the Donau-Ries district: the renovation work south of Hohenaltheim has now been completed. The extensive measures began on May 12, 2025, which included renewing and partially widening the roadway to around 1.6 kilometers. Before the renovation, the condition of the road was characterized by numerous potholes and bumps, which led to increased complaints. Head of department at the Augsburg State Building Authority, Alexander Becker, draws a consistently positive conclusion: The road is now in very good condition, which has significantly improved both traffic safety and driving quality. An exception is the junction of the DON 7 district road from Bollstadt, where only the asphalt surface layer was renewed. Further renovations are planned here in the medium term to optimize the situation.
But the renovation measures are not the only focus. This year, extensive work is also planned on other roads in the Donau-Ries district, affecting both federal, state and district roads. According to the Augsburg General Representatives of the authorities in the Donauwörth district office gave an overview of the planned projects. Particular attention is being paid to the most expensive project, the new Danube bridge near Marxheim, for which the initial preparatory work is already underway. Road users must prepare for temporary disruptions and closures, but these will largely have a limited impact.
Infrastructure measures for the future
The extensive renovation work is only part of numerous projects in the district. In the Department 14 – Municipal civil engineering and horticulture Many other tasks and projects are firmly planned. This not only includes regular tree inspections and the maintenance of outdoor areas, but also exciting collaboration with external planning offices and various associations. Nature must not be neglected either: the work here also includes meadow breeding bird management and numerous landscape management measures.
Overall, the region sees itself in a good position to not only increase traffic safety through these infrastructure measures, but also to improve the quality of life of its residents. The careful planning and targeted investments show that those responsible have a good hand when it comes to shaping the roads and thus the future of the region.
