There has been a new culinary destination in Donauwörth since the beginning of this week: Anija and Lorand Kocis have opened their restaurant “Like Grandma's”. The friendly couple, who have lived in the city for around eight years, have set up their own concept to offer visitors fresh Croatian and German cuisine. After an exciting time in which they hosted the TSV Bäumeheim sports center until June 29th, the step into their own restaurant was a long-awaited dream.
Anija Kocis explains that she and Lorand had been thinking about moving to Donauwörth for around two months. This decision came quickly and was implemented quickly. “The move and the reopening happened very suddenly, but we are up for the challenge,” says Anija, who takes care of the service while Lorand takes over the management in the kitchen.
The new gastronomy concept
“Like Grandma’s” promises not only wonderful food, but also a cozy ambience in which guests can feel at home. The menu includes a fine selection of traditional dishes, including both Croatian specialties and Bavarian classics. “We want our guests to remember the good old days and at the same time discover new taste experiences,” continues Anija.
With the opening of the restaurant, the couple shows their good feeling for the needs of the Donauwörth population. “We have arrived here and are looking forward to becoming part of this community,” emphasizes Lorand as he handles fresh ingredients in the kitchen. The concept seems to be on fertile ground, as the initial feedback is consistently positive.
A look into the future
With their new restaurant, Anija and Lorand Kocis are not only ready to offer the city something unique, but also to live their passion for gastronomy. “We want to offer regular events and special dinners to surprise guests,” explains Anija. The two have big plans and are working to turn their dreams into reality.
