Autumn program for seniors in Deggendorf: culture and digital courses!
The city of Deggendorf's senior citizens' office has launched an exciting autumn program for seniors, which will be available from June 16, 2025. This is a varied offer that includes cultural and informative events for the older generation. Anyone interested can pick up the new flyer at the tourist information office on the Upper Town Square and in the foyer of the New Town Hall. The handy flyer is designed to fit in any handbag or jacket pocket, so you can immediately take a look at upcoming events whenever it suits you. The city of Deggendorf reports this on its website degendorf.de.
A highlight of the program are the monthly events that take place in a sociable atmosphere: the popular Deggendorf seniors' get-together invites you to a social get-together every second Wednesday of the month. Here you can have interesting conversations and make new social contacts. It's a similar story for Schafkopf fans, who have the opportunity to learn the game or simply play along on the third Monday of the month at the Gasthof Altschaching - without having to put in any effort! For the cultural connoisseurs among the seniors, the autumn program also offers a “Hoagartn” with the Geißkopf singers and a musical afternoon in the library during Advent, which are sure to create a contemplative atmosphere.
Digital skills for seniors
Another important point in the fall program is the monthly computer consultation hour, which takes place on the first Wednesday of each month. Thomas Lehmann, who leads the consultation hours, is ready to support participants with problems with smartphones, PCs or tablets. Registration is required by the Monday before the appointment. This ensures that all participants receive the support they need. This consultation hour is part of a larger trend that is being promoted by the “DigitalPakt Age” initiative of the Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. The aim of this initiative is to promote digital skills among older people. By the end of 2025, 300 funded digital experience locations are to be set up in Germany, which will, among other things, offer smartphone training. Each funded project receives 3,000 euros so that the offers can actually be implemented. You can find out more about this on the ministry's website bmfsfj.de.
In addition, the Senior Citizens' Office offers interested seniors the opportunity to be placed on a waiting list if a course is already fully booked. This shows that there is a lot of interest in these learning opportunities. The first tablet courses, which were organized in collaboration with the Berlin ministry “Digital in Old Age”, have already gotten off to an overwhelmingly good start and demonstrate the great demand in the area of digital further training.
How quickly to register?
Registration for the various events is now possible by phone at 0991/2960-185 or by email at seniorenbuero@deggendorf.de. When registering, you should provide your name, telephone number and the desired event. Reservations are noted so no further inquiries are necessary; The staff team only contacts you if there are changes. Further information and program information will be available on the Senior Citizens' Office homepage from the beginning of July 2025, which you can find at deggendorf-pulsiert.de can find.
Deggendorf is moving towards the future, and the senior citizens' office is clearly at the forefront when it comes to actively and digitally integrating the older generation into society!
