For the cultural connoisseurs among the seniors, the autumn program also offers a “Hoagartn” with the Geißkopf singers and a musical afternoon in the library during Advent, which are sure to create a contemplative atmosphere.

Digital skills for seniors

Another important point in the fall program is the monthly computer consultation hour, which takes place on the first Wednesday of each month. Thomas Lehmann, who leads the consultation hours, is ready to support participants with problems with smartphones, PCs or tablets. Registration is required by the Monday before the appointment. This ensures that all participants receive the support they need. This consultation hour is part of a larger trend that is being promoted by the “DigitalPakt Age” initiative of the Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. The aim of this initiative is to promote digital skills among older people. By the end of 2025, 300 funded digital experience locations are to be set up in Germany, which will, among other things, offer smartphone training. In addition, the Senior Citizens' Office offers interested seniors the opportunity to be placed on a waiting list if a course is already fully booked. This shows that there is a lot of interest in these learning opportunities.
