Timetable change in Dachau: New bus routes and important changes!
The city of Dachau faces significant changes to bus services when a timetable change is implemented on December 14, 2025. The Dachau public utility company provides information about two important adjustments that affect local public transport. In the future, line 716, which previously provided a connection between the S-Bahn station and the school center as well as the Ignaz-Taschner-Gymnasium, will be discontinued. From this date, lines 172 and 710 will take over the route to continue serving passengers.
Another important update concerns the merging of lines 717 and 718. This will become the new line 724, which enables a connection from the S-Bahn station via Moosstrasse to the Stadtweiher. Thanks to the new route, passengers can be served every 20 minutes, compared to the previous 40 minutes. Even if some journey times will be extended for users, many passengers will certainly be pleased that there will be an improved frequency. In addition, there will be an absolute ban on stopping along the north side of Oskar-von-Miller-Straße to ensure unhindered passage of buses, as Dachau.de reports.
Background to the changes
In times of tight budgets, the city and the Dachau district are jointly keeping an eye on the costs of local bus transport. In order to achieve savings in line operations, these measures were decided, which are based on a comprehensive line analysis. The city council discussed these steps at its last meeting in the summer. Overall, those responsible expect annual savings of around 189,000 euros, of which 113,400 euros will come from the city and 75,600 euros from the district.
The municipal utilities have also invested in the infrastructure. A new depot with a modern office complex and a natural gas filling station was built near the existing operating area. The new depot includes 18 bus halls and offers the bus teams modern workplaces as well as changing and lounge rooms. Environmentally friendly natural gas buses were purchased with a total of 9.5 million euros, which not only benefits the environment but also improves the air quality in Dachau. These investments have also led to the creation of 36 new jobs in the city, as Stadtwerke Dachau emphasizes.
A new standard for local transport
These measures are part of a broader plan to improve the quality and efficiency of public transport in Dachau. With the introduction of a 10-minute service on three additional lines, mobility in the city will be further increased, which not only leads to greater user-friendliness, but also to increased customer satisfaction.
These developments will certainly bring Dachau a lot closer to a sustainable and modern mobility strategy. The municipal utilities and the city administration work hand in hand to achieve the best for the citizens. Further information on the exact timetables and route routes is provided on the Stadtwerke website so that all users can obtain information in good time.
