District Administrator Löffler takes over patronage of the Europe Mini Chefs!

At a celebratory reception in the large meeting room of the district office, District Administrator Franz Löffler took over the patronage of the “Europe Mini Cooks” project in 2025. This program, led by volunteer project manager Manuela Heizler, aims to introduce children and young people between the ages of 10 and 12 to the topics of nutrition and cooking. The district administrator emphasized the importance of handling food responsibly and valuing it, which also reflects the basic idea of the project. Each of the 26 young participants was thanked with a district cap and other gifts such as a white umbrella and a chef's jacket. The vice president of DEHOGA Bayern, Andreas Brunner, and Florian Brunner, head chef at Brunnerhof, actively support the project.

The program, which has inspired many children since it was founded in 2014, is planning a total of ten meetings this year. These cover both the basics of cooking techniques and valuable information about health and the environment. A special feedback system, the so-called “appreciation showers”, promotes the individual strengths of the participants and strengthens the team spirit among the young chefs. Through playful learning, curiosity and enthusiasm for the culinary arts are awakened.

Healthy nutrition for our children

But it's not just in the Cham district that work is being done to promote healthy eating. At an event on Sunday linked to the project, a team of mini chefs competed in the potato salad competition to choose the best potato salad. The mini chef bus and a smoothie bike were on hand to prepare fresh smoothies and educate visitors about the benefits of healthy eating. Here the children and parents were able to be inspired and actively participate. As already on iss-gut-leipzig.de reports, the project will be continued in several schools in Saxony in the future in order to raise awareness of healthy eating in children from the fifth grade onwards.

The concept of the “Europe Mini Chefs” is not only to teach cooking techniques, but also to discuss cultural aspects and the importance of the hospitality industry in detail. The children should learn to set tables stylishly and develop a feel for different food cultures. This mix of professional input and practical experiences is continually reinforced by further training courses for educators and carers, who carry on the enthusiasm for cooking together. On ichkannkochen.de The exchange between educators is also encouraged in order to pass on the fun of cooking to the youngest generations.

In times when fast food and unhealthy snacks are often the first choice, it is important to counteract this and train children in their diet. The “Europe Mini Chefs” project is setting a good example here – a step towards a healthier future for our children that should be very well received.
