Gold rush on the A3: border police discovers illegal gold treasures!

On Friday evening, June 27, 2025, border police officers made a spectacular find in Passau! During a check on the A3, towards Austria, the investigators discovered a small van with Turkish approval that transported several wrapped packages with gold bars and jewelry - a total of an impressive eight kilogram of noble metal!

The 45-year-old Turkish driver could not provide any evidence of the origin or use of the gold bars. The suspicion? Money laundering! The Lower Bavaria criminal police have now taken over the investigation while the driver was able to continue his trip after the check. An interesting case that draws attention to the dark business at our limits!
