Heavy traffic accident on the B2: driver trapped in the tree!

In the early evening of June 15, 2025, a serious traffic accident occurred on the federal road B2 at Zips, which the local team called on the scene. At around 5 p.m., a car drove off the road due to an unknown cause and crashed head -on against a tree in an adjacent forest. The driver of the vehicle was injured moderately and was included in the vehicle, which required a demanding rescue operation.

There were numerous fire brigade, emergency services and police on site. Under the keyword "THL 3 - person trapped", the firefighters initially secured fire protection and prepared the technical rescue. No hydraulic rescue device was used when the vehicle was rescued, but this made the measures no less challenging. The vehicle had come to a standstill in a deeply located area, which made the rescue more difficult.

coordination of the emergency services

The voluntary fire brigades from Stemmeneuth and Zips took over the full closure of the B2 during the rescue measures, while the fire brigades from Pegnitz and Troschenreuth worked directly at the scene of the accident. It was important that the access to the site was not hindered so that the vehicles with hydraulic rescue equipment could operate without any problems, as is defined in the guidelines for use in traffic accidents. Areas in front of and behind the scene of the accident had to be kept free to ensure that the rescue measure runs smoothly.

After successful rescue, the injured driver was first cared for and then brought into the ambulance by the emergency doctor of the BRK Bayreuth. It turned out that the on -site supply was extremely effective by the fire brigade and the emergency doctor. As soon as the police investigations were completed, the blocking of the B2 could also be lifted, and the site was handed over to the police to rescue the vehicle.

traffic accident statistics in Europe

In recent years, a large -scale evaluation shows that traffic accidents in the EU are a significant challenge. Every year, thousands of people lose their lives or are seriously injured. In the past ten years, the number of road fatships has dropped by 36 percent, but every accident has been a tragic event that is always present in smaller communities such as Zips. The EU average is 42 traffic fatalities per 1 million inhabitants, while Sweden with the safest roads only reports 18 traffic fatalities per 1 million inhabitants.

The high number of traffic accidents, especially among young adults and the elderly, shows that prevention work must continue to be done in order to increase safety in road traffic. In the age group between the ages of 18 and 24, 12 percent of the road fatalities were disproportionately affected in 2018, which has remained relatively constant in the accident statistics over the years.

For the fire brigade and the emergency services, the assignment in traffic accidents remains a central challenge that requires both quick reactions and well -coordinated measures to save lives and provide injured person. The events in Zips have once again shown how important good preparations for use and the collaboration of the numerous actors are. The accident recording by the police and the rescue of the vehicle will now be another part of the ongoing investigations.
