In the Bayreuth district, there is reason to be happy: District Administrator Florian Wiedemann has confirmed the renewed award as a Fairtrade community. This appreciation shows that fair trade is not only a catchphrase, but is firmly anchored in everyday life. Numerous actors from politics, civil society and business are committed to fairly traded products that not only benefit consumers, but also offer producers in developing countries a fair opportunity. The numerous initiatives in the district clearly show that a lot is done here: whether at a fair breakfast, the popular fair knitting cafes or the expansion of the offer of fair trade products in shops and restaurants - the variety is great. A lot has moved since the initial certification in 2019, and the Fairtrade Town Bayreuth steering group is planning further projects to promote fair trade.
This group is made by Dr. Klaus Wührl-Struller, a committed city council and theater educator. He is supported by an eight-member round, which also includes representatives of educational institutions and local economy, including the climate protection manager Gesa Thomas and the one-world promoter Dr. Kirstin Wolf.
