Photo competition in Bayreuth: Vote for your favorite photo!

A breath of creativity and community blew in the attic of RW21 in Bayreuth on November 6, 2025. On this day, the exhibition for the photo competition “Show me your city worth living in” opened, a community accent that was created in close collaboration with the Bayreuth Adult Education Center. Among the guests were Mayor Thomas Ebersberger and District Administrator Florian Wiedemann, who created a worthy setting for the presentation of almost 200 impressive photographs.

A total of 73 participants between the ages of 16 and 89 presented their works. The 189 photographs not only reflect the quality of life in the city and district of Bayreuth, but also the diversity and creativity of the local population. The competition impressively shows that art and community can go hand in hand.

Prize winners in shining light

The award ceremony was another highlight: Thomas Mielke took first place with his picture “Ruhe am Main” and was delighted to receive a high-quality digital camera. The young photographer Amelie Ferbert won second place with her work “Balcony Experience” – she received a valuable voucher for photo products from dm. Gerhard Fischerauer came third with his fascinating photo “Sleepy Bridge Spirit” and received a voucher for the Selfie Point Gallery. This award not only recognizes the individuality of the works, but also shows that photography can be a truly shared experience.

Regional manager Monika Pellkofer presented the audience award during the event. If you're curious now, you can vote until January 7, 2026. And the good news is that you can't just vote on site using active image screens - online voting is also possible. In this way, the votes of those who wish to participate remotely can also be counted. The results of the vote will be announced in the new year.

The exhibition: an experience for everyone

The exhibition is open until January 7, 2026 at the vhs Bayreuth in RW21 and therefore offers plenty of opportunity to be inspired by the creative works. Visitors can view the impressive photographs up close and get their own idea of the quality of life in Bayreuth. The images are not just simple representations, but stories that tell life in the region.

Special thanks go to the sponsors of the competition, who supported it with regional management funds from the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy. Such initiatives make a significant contribution to revitalizing and promoting local culture.

For anyone interested in photography and the development of local culture, the event is a real must-see.
