Voluntary work: Bayreuth students provide over 9,100 hours!
Bayreuth, Deutschland - Recently there was the honor of 155 pupils in the large meeting room of the new town hall, who were committed to the voluntary social year-Bayreuther Model . Mayor Thomas Ebersberger and District Administrator Florian Wiedemann paid tribute to the impressive performance of these young people, who performed a total of over 9,100 hours of voluntary service in the school year 2024/2025. These young people come from 16 schools in the city and in the Bayreuth district.
In a time when social engagement is becoming more important than ever, these students show that they have a good hand to help others. Whether in the care of children, the support of seniors or the help for people with a handicap - the areas of application were diverse and also included participation in the fire brigade, the table as well as in various clubs, churches and schools.

The voluntary social school year encouraged students to get involved in social, ecological or cultural areas. To take part, the young people have to do for at least 50 hours of voluntary service. The age structure showed that most participants were 16 years old. Among the 155 participants live in the city of Bayreuth, while 81 from the district and 47 come from the surrounding area.
The commitment of the young people is not only limited to classic social services. For example, it also includes cooperation in public social institutions such as schools, kindergartens, retirement homes or disabled facilities, as well as in non -profit associations. Activities such as visiting services, homework supervision or youth work offer participants the opportunity to help directly and gain valuable experience without gaining financial compensation.
