Citizens' dialogue around anchor center in Bamberg: Security and urban development in focus!

On Tuesday, the second citizen dialogue of Member of the Landtag Melanie Huml took place to the anchor center in Bamberg, in which Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann was also present. As part of this exchange, Citizens' Representatives discussed central issues such as security, the number of occupancy of the asylum seeker accommodation and the possible development of individual buildings on urban development. Wiesentbote reports that currently about 700 asylum seekers in the so-called recording facility for Upper Franconia.

An important point of the dialogue was the feeling of security of the residents, which has improved significantly since the first meeting in January. "The people in the neighborhood have more trust," says Melanie Huml, who also works for reducing the anchor center. She also emphasized that the federal police must be consulted in the use of the premises in the event of future changes. The Federal Agency for Real Estate, or Bima for short, will ask the federal police about their needs.

important concerns of the citizens

Together, concerns such as a funded bus line, street lighting and road topics were also discussed. In addition, the areas of plärrer and folk park area were discussed. The citizens' representatives praised the cooperation with the Bamberg police and the government representation in Upper Franconia, which makes dialogue considerably easier. Former mayor Dr. Christian Lange also emphasized how important a prompt communication between the city of Bamberg and the Free State of Bavaria is.

Another important aspect is the unanimous decision of the Bamberg Ost Citizens' Association to close the anchor center until December 31, 2025. This measure was decided with the preference for decentralized accommodation in real estate instead of the controversial container solutions. Bamberg Ost reports that the association acts actively to actually implement this decision. For the representatives from Bamberg Ost, an intensive examination of the circumstances and possibilities of accommodating refugees is of great importance.

The city of Bamberg is faced with the challenge of having no alternative locations for anchor and recording facilities in Upper Franconia at short notice. The city council only dealt with it a few weeks ago and decided to take up the offer of conversation from Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann. In this context, the first chairman of the citizens' association, Jochen Kellner, emphasized the need for an open dialogue with everyone involved.

The discussions and measures related to the anchor center are in full swing, and Melanie Huml has already announced that it will continue to exchange regular exchange with the citizens' representatives in order to work together to improve the situation in Bamberg Ost.
