Bamberg and Karkonoski: Focus on the future in Europe!
A warm partnership and future -oriented topics - that was the motto of the 5th district council conference, which took place on June 7, 2025 in the Cleantech Innovation Park (CTIP) in Hallstadt. The district of Bamberg received its Polish partner district for Kercconoski. This event gathered numerous players, including District Administrator Johann Kalb and his Polish colleague Krzysztof Wiśniewski. The deputy of Wiśniewski, Sławomir Celt, as well as the district council chairman Kinga Nowak and numerous district councilors were also present.
The conference revolved around the central challenges of the district administrations in Bavaria and Poland. A lively exchange took place through the differences in the structures and tasks of the administrations, the foster child and strategies in disaster protection for flood situations. The exciting discussion round was moderated by Anna Stahl-Czechowska from Agitpolska e.V. in Berlin, while two translators ensured that communication between the participants was smooth. This form of cooperation is not new; The partnership between Bamberg and Karkonoski has existed since 2007 and is kept alive through encounters, projects and visits.
versatile activities in the supporting program
But the conference was not only known for the variety of topics. In the supporting program, the participants also experienced the Pentecostal exhibition on the Giechburg, celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Kreuzschuher Kirchweih and enjoyed a joint service followed by a morning drink. Such cultural elements not only strengthen the connection between the counties, but also promote exchange on a personal level.
The European Union, with its initiatives such as the Clean Industrial Deal, sets important course for a sustainable future. In order to support the objective of a climate -neutral economy, investments in decarbonization are essential. This was also emphasized at the Cleanetech Conference on April 8, 2025 in Brussels and online, where the focus was on the development and manufacture of clean technologies. This topic is also becoming increasingly important for regional actors such as the districts of Bamberg and Karkonoski. Cinea emphasizes that innovation and new circular business models are key factors in order to secure Europe as an attractive production location.
The joint commitment of the two counties aims not only to tackle local challenges, but also to make a contribution to a united Europe. With all the burgeoning exchange and the many new ideas, it remains to be hoped that this partnership will continue to bloom and focus constructively on the challenges of the future.
The successes of these conferences and the exchange between the counties underline the importance of dialogue across national borders in order to develop sustainable solutions. Participation in such events could serve as an excellent example of how local efforts can take up global topics.
