Fantastic swimming lakes in the Landsberg district: excellent water quality!
What kind of summer do we need when the swimming lakes in the Landsberg district are so inviting? Current checks have shown that all bathing areas in the district have oneexcellent water qualityhave. After the summer thunderstorms the day before, the sun will soon return to lure the water lovers to the banks. In the second week of Whitsun holidays, families can look forward to bright sunshine and enjoy the much-visited bathing spots in the district Mercury.
The bathing areas at a glance
The Landsberg Health Department has regularly checked the water quality as part of the Bavarian Bathing Water Ordinance. The controlled bathing areas include:
- Lechstaustufe 20 bei Scheuring
- Auensee bei Prittriching
- Penzinger Baggersee
- Baggersee Geltendorf
- Badeweiher Stadl/Vilgertshofen
- Dorfweiher Reichling
- Lechbadestelle bei Kinsau
- Windachspeicher bei Finning
- Engelsrieder See bei Rott
- Ammersee bei Dießen (Campingplatz St. Alban)
- Ammersee in Schondorf (Gemeindebad)
- Baggersee Obermeitingen
- Baggersee Hurlach
All of these sites received the same positive evaluation, which focuses on bacteriological examination and detection of contaminants. The inspection will take place every four weeks between May 15th and September 15th, and spontaneous inspections can also be considered Mercury.
A look at the water quality in Bavaria
The water quality of Bavarian bathing lakes is also highlighted. As of June 2025, a total of 374 bathing areas in Bavaria are designated as EU bathing waters, with 92.8 percent of them rated “excellent”. The regular water samples carried out by the health authorities show that the hygienic conditions in most lakes are considered to be consistently good LGL Bavaria.
Balanced water quality is essential for swimming. The monitoring of the lakes is not only limited to the chemical side, but also examines microbiological parameters, such as E. coli and intestinal enterococci, in order to identify possible health risks. If you pay attention to hygiene when bathing, you can enjoy carefree hours by the water.
But a little caution is also required: you should be careful on tributaries and near large gatherings of waterfowl. In the worst case, complaints such as diarrhea or nausea can be caused by feces or impurities in the water. A look at the current water quality reports from the district office provides additional assurance that swimming fun is safe!
