Big boxing match at the Kiliani Festival: Who will win the title on July 13th?
The 37th edition of Kiliani Boxing will take place in the festival tent on the Talavera in Würzburg on Sunday, July 13, 2025. The event, organized by the Würzburger Kickers boxing department, will start at 10 a.m. and entry opens at 9 a.m. A professional boxing ring will be set up in the marquee, ready for at least ten fights, including an exciting women's fight. This year the Kickers' opponents are the boxing club ATS Kulmbach, with whom there was a draw (10:10) in the last meeting, which provides additional incentive to even out the last differences this year.
The fight in the middleweight division will be particularly promising: Mohammad Shadab, current German champion and reigning Franconian champion 2025, will meet Daniel Filipovic, the Bavarian champion and third place at the German championships. The local boxing scene can also look forward to a number of talented boxers supporting the Kickers. Among them are Sabrina Borst – two-time Bavarian champion – as well as Jeremy Bursalioglu and Vahe Balayan, both Franconian champions. Arthur Trippel from WVV Würzburg, also a two-time Franconian and Bavarian runner-up, will also be in the ring for the Kickers.
An event for the whole family
A total of up to 2,000 spectators are expected at the Kiliani Boxing, which shows how popular this event is in the region. Organizers recommend arriving early to get the best spot. The entrance fee is very moderate at 10 euros for adults and 7 euros for concessions. The fights are held in three rounds of three minutes each and promise exciting clashes. The boxers must complete six months of basic training and a medical examination before their fight, which contributes to the safety of everyone involved.
Boxing is very important in Germany and is enjoying growing popularity. The German Boxing Association had around 81,000 members in 2024, an increase compared to the previous year. Over 5.62 million people in Germany show a particular interest in this versatile sport, which, in addition to physical fitness, also promotes self-confidence and assertiveness, as Boxen100.de highlights. On average, boxing training burns between 900 and 1,000 calories in 90 minutes, making it not only exciting fights, but also an excellent way to stay fit.
For all boxing fans and the curious, Kiliani Boxing is an excellent opportunity to be up close and personal when talented fighters prove themselves. So if you don't want to miss a piece of local sports history, Kiliani boxing is the right place for you, as Radio Gong reports. The gong for the first round sounds promptly at 10 a.m. - a spectacle that shouldn't be missed!
