Dispute over containers: Boathouse at Kuhsee remains closed until further notice!
A lot is happening at Kuhsee! Today, June 14, 2025, the managing director of the new Bootshaus excursion restaurant, Stefan Bob Meitinger, announced that outdoor catering has been discontinued for the time being. The reason for this is a dispute with the city of Augsburg over a green container that was supposed to serve as a sales location. Loud Augsburger Allgemeine This container was classified as illegal construction and was therefore not approved. Despite the barriers, the container will still be at the location.
The boathouse, which was recently acquired by Meitinger's company Bob's, is scheduled to open later this month. During the renovation work, there were already discussions about upgrading the site, but non-compliance with official requirements is causing divided opinions among locals.
A new gastronomic concept
The former lake lounge is now presented in a fresh look as a boathouse. Bob Meitinger, known from the Bavarian gastronomy scene, plans to transform the restaurant into an attractive restaurant with boat rental, as in another report by Hello Augsburg is executed. The concept includes an extensive menu with all kinds of delicacies: from mixed starters and bowls to seasonal dishes and freshly baked cakes.
The restaurant has two floors and impresses with an extensive window front that offers a view of the Kuhsee. The terrace near the shore in particular promises a lot of flair. The initial opening for the outdoor area is planned for March 20, 2025, followed by the opening of the bar and the first floor by mid-April.
Staff and planned opening times
Meitinger is currently still looking for staff for the new company, while the renovations carried out over the last few months are intended to create a modern atmosphere. The full opening of the boathouse is scheduled for May 2025. The existing Pier 3 at Kuhsee will also remain, which shows that Meitinger is working with several gastronomy concepts at the same time.
In other gastronomic news in Augsburg, another restaurant called La Tavernetta Ristorante is opening at the Glaspalast, offering authentic Italian cuisine and boasting a stylish ambience and a spacious terrace, as shown on Walter AG is reported. This restaurant will open in September 2024 and shows that Augsburg's gastronomy scene is lively and constantly changing.
