Colorful parade in Augsburg: Over 3000 people for queer rights!

Augsburg, Deutschland - On June 14, 2025, Christopher Street Day (CSD) took place in Augsburg under the motto "Never still - because Augsburg wants to be colorful". The CSD always attracts many people, but this year there were over 3000 participants who campaigned for the rights of the queer community. The parade started at 1:30 p.m. from the Rathausplatz and led to the City Gallery via Leonhardsberg, and then returned via Milchberg and Maxstraße. The mood was peaceful and exuberant throughout the event, while residents cheerfully waved to the participants.

Jürgen Enninger, who is Augsburg's cultural officer, spoke during the parade and encouraged everyone present to visualize the queer community. He was able to rely on a variety of outfits, since participants presented themselves in rainbow flags, as drag queens or even in animal costumes (furries). In order to cool down the participants at over 30 degrees, the fire brigade provided a welcome cool down with refreshing water tubes.

important messages and demands

Emma Heinle, a member of the board of the CSD association Augsburg, found clear words and emphasized how important it is that the queer community comes together-without explanations. However, it should not be forgotten with this appeal that queer people still do not enjoy the desired acceptance in society. A current example of the challenges in Augsburg The raid on a gay couple in Maxstrasse, which illustrates that hostility and threats to violence continue to increase.

Member of the Bundestag Claudia Roth (Greens) spoke after the move and called for acceptance for the diverse life plans. In his speech, Djonni Laser also addressed the negative evaluation of difference, especially in the context of a right of right in society. These voices are important because it is clear: the CSD alone is not enough - the visibility and dialogue with the queer community must be continuously promoted.

spatial wishes of the community

An important point that the Queere Community in Augsburg repeatedly expresses is the desire for your own space for meetings and events. This would help to create a stronger sense of community and to offer a safe place for exchange and activities.

A pride kiosk at Rathausplatz created an additional mood and sold fan articles, with numerous organizations and parties being present. The move was not only a sign of visibility, but also a platform to talk about social reality. This becomes even clearer if you look at the current discussions about the self -determination law to replace the Transsexual Act. The need for changes in the law that improve the life of trans people is required by many. This topic is also reflected in the work of associations, such as the Federal Association Trans* (BVT*), who often report on a general distrust of trans people. National Geographic,, that ...

Overall, the CSD in Augsburg was a successful festival of colors and solidarity - an important expression for the queer community and an urgent appeal for more acceptance and equality.
