Landsberg X-Press: After a catastrophic game, President not amused!
The football season in Bavaria continues anything but gratifying for the Landsberg X-Press. In the last first round of the regional league, the team had to give up an unfortunate defeat against a direct competitor, the Franconia Knights, with 24:31. This setback particularly hurts because the Knights housed the bottom of the table until recently. The performance of the Landsberg team was described by President Markus Gruberbauer as "pissed off", which reflects the mood in the X-Men camp.
The team's unconstant playing style was again obvious. The Landsberg X-Press was already behind in the initial phase of the game and could not withstand the pressure of the Knights. Gruberbauer expressed disappointed about the entire performance and noted that this type of football was "to get used to". A Landsberger player had to accept a punishment during the game, which further tightened the chaotic situation.
strong opponents and own weaknesses
Already at the start of the season on May 11, 2024, the X-Men met the Franks Knights in the sports center, where around 980 spectators were present. At this point, they had to admit defeat with 14:35. Head coach Gabriel Chambers found after the game that the team did not appear in the collective, which proves to be one of their greatest mancos. The club is currently going through a change: 17 players left the club after last season, which is why the team lacks the necessary experience. This could be clearly seen in the game against the Knights.
The Knights, on the other hand, were able to fall back on a well -positioned team that has a strong effect through newcomers and keeping top performers. Quarterback Jarrett Zibert in particular played a key role and put his teammates in the limelight. Landsberg could shine combative, but could not reduce the error rate, which, according to the Gruberbauer, made a significant contribution to the final failure.
outlook and hopes
Despite the current defeats, the team remains optimistic and sees the last games as an opportunity to improve. The fighting spirit is unbroken: Touchdowns by Hannes Haug and Bryant Hayes show the potential that is in the players. It will be interesting to see how the team can beat in the second leg against the Knights on May 26th.
While the men's team is fighting, there are also bright spots at the young teams of the Landsberg X-Press. As part of a tournament in Augsburg, the U16 won convincingly against the Starnberg Argonauts (40:12) and the Augsburg Raptors (34:19). The U19 game community with the Allgäu Comets, on the other hand, was not lucky at the weekend and lost to the Nuremberg Rams with 0:21.
Overall, it remains to be seen whether the Landsberg X-Press can get the curve. A look at the next games could show whether the club can learn from its difficulties and create the turn to celebrate some successes this season. The fans and those responsible hope for the team that will soon blossom and may be looking forward to the upcoming games.
