Glass car: E-car owners wanted in Ensdorf!”
The ZEN in Ensdorf is launching the “Glass Car” hands-on campaign on November 8th, 2025 to gain experience with e-mobility.

Glass car: E-car owners wanted in Ensdorf!”
Something is happening in the Amberg-Sulzbach district, and it has to do with the future of mobility! The Center for Renewable Energy and Sustainability (ZEN) in Ensdorf has launched the exciting “Glass Car” project. This is about gaining honest insights into everyday life with electric vehicles and sharing these experiences with others. The goal: to make e-mobility more tangible and understandable.
The participation campaign is looking for electric car owners who have been using their vehicle for at least a year and drive more than 10,000 kilometers annually. Those interested can submit their experiences via a questionnaire on the ZEN homepage. Various details are important, such as model, year of manufacture, battery capacity, consumption and range in summer and winter. Typical route profiles and comparison values to the previous combustion engine vehicle should also be provided. Anyone who wants to take part has the chance to win prizes if their own vehicle is selected as a “glass car”.
The opportunities of e-mobility
E-mobility is on the rise in Germany! Statista reports that the number of electric cars at the beginning of 2024 was around 1.7 million - a considerable increase compared to the 136,600 electric cars in 2020. The political framework supports this change: From 2035 onwards, no new petrol and diesel cars will be allowed to be registered in the EU, with a few exceptions like e-fuels. The demand for electric vehicles is to be increasingly met by battery-electric cars (BEVs).
Of course, there are challenges: Despite the enormous progress, the growth of electric cars has slowed and the share of new registrations fell in 2024. Nevertheless, the positive trends should not be overlooked, because e-mobility remains a hot topic among drivers. Anyone who plans well at the moment can take advantage of the environmental bonus when buying electric vehicles, although this will expire in 2024.
Strong interest in the “glass car”
The ZEN not only invites electric car owners, but also interested parties who do not yet own an electric car can contact the initiative. This offer promotes exchange between e-car drivers and potential new customers, which can potentially lead to greater acceptance of e-mobility among the population.
Martin Kopp, ZEN's climate protection manager, is available to answer any questions. He can be reached by email at m.kopp@zen-ensdorf.de and by telephone at (0 96 24) 9 22 45 26. In the end, the step towards the cleaner future of mobility will be a good path not just for a few, but for everyone!
