Wolfgang Taffertshofer: BfL candidate for district administrator in the Weilheim-Schongau district

In Weilheim-Schongau we are heading towards the 2026 local elections and preparations are already in full swing. The “Citizens for the District” (BfL) have nominated Wolfgang Taffertshofer as their district administrator candidate. This reports Mercury. The incumbent district administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß has already announced that she will not stand for re-election. This clears the way for the experienced politician and farmer Taffertshofer.

Who is the man who wants to control the fate of the district? Wolfgang Taffertshofer brings a lot with him: He is 61 years old, married and the proud father of eight adult children. His deep roots in the region are reflected not only in his family situation, but also in his professional career. He has been an independent farmer for more than 38 years and has successfully passed his organic farming on to the next generation. As deputy district administrator, he has been concentrating on the interests of the district since May 1, 2020.

Many years of political experience

The Weilheim native has been a member of the district council since 1996 and also served on the Obersöchering local council for 18 years. He is currently not only an active member of the district committee as a district councilor, but also the youth welfare committee and chairs the youth welfare planning subcommittee. It is this extensive experience and his social skills that convinced the BfL of him.

“We need a candidate like Wolfgang Taffertshofer who recognizes the challenges of our time and actively addresses them,” emphasizes the voting community. These include topics such as regional economy, housing, mobility and climate protection, which will become increasingly important in the coming years. During the electoral period, which in Bavaria is generally six years, the new district administrator will be able to have a decisive influence on the development of these issues.

Local elections in Bavaria

The local elections will take place on March 8, 2026, and around 39,500 local elected officials will be elected nationwide in these elections, such as District administration website informed. In addition to the district administrators, this also includes members of the district councils, mayors and local council members. Municipalities have a variety of tasks, from providing drinking water to maintaining roads, while counties are responsible for larger infrastructure projects and social services.

Politics in the district is facing exciting challenges, and with Wolfgang Taffertshofer, the citizens of Weilheim-Schongau have an experienced candidate who could be able to represent the interests of the population and develop future-oriented solutions. What happens next remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the next few months promise an exciting time in the district's political events.
