Tour group explores South Bohemia: Krumlov and mystical pilgrimage sites!
The South Bohemia region recently welcomed a very special visitor: a tour group from the Catholic Adult Education Lower Allgäu (KEB) traveled to this picturesque area, which is known for its impressive cultural and historical treasures. On this five-day trip, led by Ursula Kiefersauer and Stephan Sollors, 25 participants took part in this discovery tour, which led through the Bavarian Forest and included, among other things, České Budějovice and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Český Krumlov.
As soon as they arrive in Budweis, famous for its traditional brewery, the group doesn't miss the opportunity to enjoy a freshly tapped Krügle beer. The participants did not miss out on this pleasure for 1,000 crowns. On the first day of the trip, the program included a visit to the medieval town of Český Krumlov, a town that not only impresses with its picturesque old town and narrow streets, but also with its impressive castle from the 16th century. The cityscape of Český Krumlov has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992 and attracts numerous creative and historically interested visitors every year, as czech-tourist.de reports.
Exploring historical sites
On the second day, the group visited the town of Tabor, known for its medieval underground passage system and its close connection to the Hussite Wars. This city is a strong reminder of the historic struggles for reform led by Jan Hus. Close to Tabor is the pilgrimage site of Klokoty, which, with its quiet and tranquil atmosphere, offers a contrast to the busy city life. Here the participants not only found a special place of peace, but also a daily service in the Church of the Holy Trinity, which was well attended.
The tour group also experienced an interesting facet of Czech society, which, according to reports from merkur.de, is characterized by an overwhelming majority of almost 80% without a confession, while only around 10% adhere to the Catholic Church confess.
A crowning conclusion to the Golden City
As the culmination of their journey, the route took participants to Prague, often referred to as the Golden City. Here they were able to witness the impressive history, which spans over 400 years of Habsburg rule. Other highlights included a visit to Prague Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral and the majestic Charles Bridge, as well as the statue of St. Nepomuk. The view over the city was an unforgettable moment for all travelers.
The experiences of this unforgettable trip through South Bohemia and Prague left a lasting impression on the participants. Nurtured by the beauty of the cities and cultural diversity, they returned home with wonderful memories. A travel report that will certainly make many people want to embark on their own journey of discovery into this fascinating region - Swabia and Bohemia, a connection that is very popular!
