Colorful promotions and workshops: First Pride Month in the Unterallgäu!

This year the district youth ring (KJR) underallgäu celebrates the Pride Month in June 2025. The initiators Paulina Schwerdel and Florian Kastenmeier actively campaign for an open and diverse society. Especially in youth centers, the topic of visibility is very important in order to give all young people a feeling of belonging. Mercury reports that you can also see colorful decorations, such as a rainbow staircase, a pride-shield and numerous flags set up.

The support of the Wohn-Baugesellschaft Mindelheim, represented by Agnes Schweiger, contributes significantly to the positive perception of the action. By beautifying the stairs to the KJR office into rainbow colors, a sign of diversity is set. Kastenmeier reports of challenges such as the repeated disappearance of a rainbow flag in the youth center, which he consistently replaced.

The KJR has put together a colorful program for Pride Month, which includes workshops and creative actions in the youth centers of the Unterallgäu. These events are designed in such a way that also not queer adolescents are given the opportunity to deal with the topic. The end of the Pride Month is a free film screening of the film "Young Hearts" on June 29 at 10.30 a.m. in the Huber film house in Türkheim. Treasurer Kastenmeier is looking forward to welcoming as many spectators as possible. The film is used as a further means to address the important topic of the LGBTIQ+representation in society and to promote the acceptance of queer realities. The future package adds that the Pride Month is a valuable time to celebrate the pride and visibility of the queer community at the same time for respectful coexistence advocate.

How important the openness is, is also evident in recurring discussions about tolerance problems in local youth centers. Paulina Schwerdel and Florian Kastenmeier emphasize that it is essential to talk about these topics and promote acceptance. The KJR is therefore not afraid to show the courage for discussion and action - because diversity brings us all and enriches the community.
