Gentian Vokrri: The new player-coach brings a breath of fresh air to Traunstein!

A new wind is blowing at SB Chiemgau, as Gentian Vokrri is taking over the helm of the club as the new player-coach. This step is the start of preparation for the coming season in the Southeast Football League, which starts on Wednesday, June 18th at 7 p.m. The 26-year-old Vokrri, who has been active for Traunstein since summer 2022, has established himself as a real leader in the team. Department head Uli Habl particularly emphasizes Vokrri's standing among the players and thus speaks a clear language for the challenges ahead.

Expectations for the new season couldn't be higher. After a “horror season,” things are definitely going to get better this year. “It is important to us to bring calm to the team and to focus the players fully on football,” says Vokrri about the tasks ahead. He has until the first matchday to find his optimal line-up and integrate the numerous new and talented players.

A squad with perspective

For the new season, SB Chiemgau has put together a squad of 25 players, more than half of which were recruited from their own youth. The promising talents being promoted to the first team include Elia and Noah Hufnagl, Peter Horn, Michael Steinbacher and Luca Paticchia. These young players benefit from the strict guidelines of the DFB talent promotion, which aims to discover and specifically promote talented players between the ages of U 12 and U 15. Many great talents have already found their way into professional sports through these programs.

However, there were also departures: Danijel Majdancevic, Mark Kremer, Sascha Marinkovic, Karlo Jolic and Fabio Trkulja are no longer available. However, SB Chiemgau has presented several new additions: Lennard Schweder and Genti Krasniqi come from SV Bruckmühl, while goalkeeper Stefan Schönberger, who has experience from the Regionalliga and Bayernliga, comes from ESV Freilassing. Jakob Trebesius, described as a versatile striker, will also be part of the team. Julian Höllen, a familiar face, is also returning to Traunstein.

Test matches and further preparations

In order to optimally prepare the team for the season, several test matches are already planned. The first matches will take place against TSV Siegsdorf on June 27th and SV Saaldorf on July 4th. Also on the schedule is a duel against FC Töging on July 9th. Another opponent for the test matches on July 11th or 12th is still being sought. The first competitive game in the state league will be on the 19th/20th. July, where the cup game will also be played, but the opponent for this is not yet known.

Gentian Vokrri's commitment as player-coach promises a breath of fresh air and possibly new impulses for SB Chiemgau. Fans and players are excited to see how the new constellation will affect the pitch. It remains to be seen whether the club will achieve the hoped-for upswing and leave last year's dismal balance behind it. The first steps on the way there have already been taken.
