The Straubing Tigers' home series ends - derby defeat against Ingolstadt!

The Straubing Tigers have ended their impressive home series of seven wins this season. On October 30, 2025, they were defeated 4-6 in the derby against ERC Ingolstadt. In the game, which was the 15th matchday of the PENNY DEL, the Ingolstadt team showed a remarkable performance by creatively exploiting the mistakes in the Straubing defense.

It was clear from the start that the game would be exciting. A spectacular fistfight between Alex Green and Sam Ruopp set the mood in the first third. The Tigers quickly fell behind when Daniel Schmölz scored 0-1 for Ingolstadt in the 5th minute. Despite several chances, the Tigers failed to find the equalizer. In the 26th minute it was Marcel Brandt who equalized the score to 1-1.

More drama in the second third

But Ingolstadt quickly found their way back into the game: Kenny Agostino put them back in the lead in the 32nd minute. Peter Abbandonato increased the score to 2:3 in the 33rd minute, and Daniel Pietta made it 2:4 shortly before the second siren. However, the Tigers didn't let themselves get down and fought back in the final third. In the 51st minute, Nick Halloran and Elis Hede reduced the score to 3:4.

Who would have thought that things would get exciting again? Myles Powell made it 3-5 into an empty net in the 58th minute, and Abbandonato increased it to 3-6 shortly afterwards. Linus Brandl gave the fans hope again with 19 seconds left when he made the final score 4:6.

Despite the defeat, the ice arena was well filled with 5,108 spectators. Unfortunately, the Tigers were missing several key players, including Tyler Madden with a lower-body injury and Florian Bugl and Mike Connolly, who were ailing. Skyler McKenzie, Tobias Schwarz and Simon Seidl were also not in the lineup.

The Tigers' record

The Tigers' record in Germany's highest league shows that the Straubingers left the ice as winners 35 times in 79 matches. In the last duel in October, the Tigers lost 5:6 after extra time in a thrilling finish. The next challenge awaits on October 31st, when the Tigers play away against Nuremberg, followed by a home game against Dresden on November 2nd.

Straubing has a long history and has been continuously populated since the Neolithic period. The Romans established themselves here in 16-14 BC. BC and left their mark. The famous ‘Römerschatz’ in the Gäubodenmuseum bears witness to this past. The city has developed over the centuries and is now a lively place with a vibrant city center where modern shops and traditional buildings go hand in hand.
