In the coming days, Straubing will be all about the queer community. On 19. July 2025 this year's Christopher Street Day (CSD) takes place, an event that is reminiscent of the legendary uprising of queer people against police violence in New York Christopher Street. The motto for this year is: NEVER still! Our rights remain , as men.Media.

The CSD is the Queer Association in Lower Bavaria e. V. organizes and begins at 3 p.m. on Ludwigsplatz. The demo train leads through the city, followed by a rally that starts at 4 p.m. and offers a varied program. The music group "Just the Two of Us" takes over the first musical mood. At 4:15 p.m. , the sisters of the perpetual indulgence open the rally.

The rally is characterized by numerous greetings and speeches, including the city equality office and the Queeres Archive forum. Particularly noteworthy is a political panel discussion that takes place at 6:45 p.m. on current queer topics. In between there is a special information about the new self -determination law, which takes place at 5:30 p.m. . Questions are expressly welcome here.

The afternoon is also enriched with musical and artistic performances by various artists: inside, such as Maikönigin, John Gentlethem and Shirin Thunder. So the atmosphere will be colorful and lively, and everyone is invited to join celebrations and solidarity.

The CSD in Straubing is part of a larger series of demonstrations and celebrations across Bavaria that extend throughout the year. Already on 31. May 2025 took place in Kelheim, and others in cities such as Landshut and Murnau are planned. These events fit into the tradition of Christopher Street Days in Germany, which were created from the Stonewall uprisings in New York in 1969.
