On Saturday afternoon, December 29, 2025, a serious accident occurred on the B 20 near Aiterhofen in the Straubing-Bogen district. At around 12:15 p.m., a vehicle in front lost a section of its cage structure, which fell directly onto the road. This situation led to a dangerous chain reaction.
The rear Audi, which was traveling towards Landau an der Isar, had to apply emergency braking to avoid a collision. But the driver of a van, who was driving directly behind the Audi, reacted too late and crashed into the stationary vehicle. The impact was violent, with both the driver and passenger of the van seriously injured.

The fire brigades from Straubing, Ittling and Aiterhofen were also on duty to secure the accident site and redirect traffic.
