Burning fire in Bogen: Fire brigade prevents worse drama at school!

On Sunday afternoon there was a smoldering fire at the Ludmilla secondary school in Bogen, Straubing-Bogen district, which was reported via the fire alarm system at around 1 p.m. Thanks to rapid intervention, the fire department was able to quickly bring the fire under control, but a technical defect was determined to be the cause of the fire. Fortunately, there were no injuries despite the heavy smoke in the building. The exact amount of material damage cannot currently be quantified, but it is estimated to be in the high five-figure range, according to the Passauer Neue Presse reported.

A more pleasant occasion for the Ludmilla Realschule is the current study trip for the eighth graders to southern England and London, which extends over five days. Under the leadership of teachers Silvia Wolf, Silke Kimberger, Marco Nadler and Christian Möhrlein, the students gained cultural and linguistic experience at the first stop in the historic town of Rye and the sand dunes of Camber Sands. Despite the typical British weather, the mood among the students remains brilliant.

Cultural highlights on the study trip

The trip includes, among other things, a hike along the cliffs between Birling Gap and Beachy Head, where the impressive chalk cliffs of the “Seven Sisters” are visited. In Brighton, students enjoy an afternoon by the sea with a visit to the famous Brighton Pier and Sealife Aquarium, as well as a quick look at the Royal Pavilion. On the third day, Leeds Castle and the imposing Canterbury Cathedral are on the program, which represent important cultural highlights.

Another highlight is a boat trip from Greenwich along the Thames, where numerous landmarks such as Tower Bridge, the Tower of London and St. Paul's Cathedral can be seen. The last day has to offer a stroll through Oxford Street and a visit to Harrods. After five days, the students return tired but enthusiastic and can look back on an enriching time in which they were not only able to expand their language skills but also strengthen the community. The trip offers an extraordinary experience and unforgettable impressions that make the lessons more lively.

Fire protection in focus

In the context of the fire in the Ludmilla secondary school, the relevance of fire protection measures in schools also becomes clear. The German statutory accident insurance highlights the importance of organizational fire protection in its latest issue of the magazine “pluspunkt”. To ensure student safety, schools should have a structured alarm plan that clearly defines behavioral measures and escape routes. The school community must be fully informed about these plans, especially teachers.

With ongoing training and a high level of fire safety awareness, schools like Ludmilla-Realschule in Bogen can minimize potential dangers and maximize the protection of their students and staff. It is therefore important to regularly discuss these issues in schools and take appropriate action.
