Zonta STEM Award: Bad Kissingen students conquer the MINT Olympus!
On December 26, 2025, the Zonta STEM Award ceremony took place in the Study Fab in Schweinfurt, where a total of four students from the Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Technology (THWS) were honored. The Zonta Club Bad Kissingen-Schweinfurt awarded this prestigious prize for the third time this year. With a total prize money of 1,600 euros, outstanding achievements in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (MINT) are recognized, but social commitment that goes beyond academic studies is also rewarded.
Klara Weigand, President of the Zonta Club, gave an encouraging laudatory speech and emphasized the often still underrepresentation of women in the MINT subjects. She highlighted the importance of motivating women to pursue career opportunities in these technical fields. Weigand also praised the high quality of the application documents submitted and warmly congratulated the award winners.
Winners of the Zonta STEM Awards 2025
- 1. Preis: Nisa Zafira
- 2. Preis: Fu Ke
- 2. Preise: Ankitha Shetty und Alisa Teufel
Numerous people were present at the award ceremony, including the award winners themselves as well as representatives of the Zonta Club and the university. What was particularly pleasing was that the event also emphasized the students' social commitment, a central prerequisite for the award. However, the absence of Anne-Kerstin Bartsch and Alisa Teufel, who could not be present in person, was also noted.
Commitment to women in MINT
The Zonta Club Bad Nauheim-Friedberg, also active in the area of MINT awards, has already announced its fourth call for entries for the STEM Awards. According to their website, the focus is on supporting committed female students in technical and scientific fields of study. The winners receive prize money totaling 1,000 euros for first place and 500 euros each for second and third places. The selection of the winners is decided by a jury that examines the applications based on various criteria such as academic achievements and social commitment.
Founded in 1919, Zonta International's extensive network works to improve the status of women worldwide in a range of areas, from legal to economic. The first European club was founded in Vienna in 1930 and reflects the commitment that motivates women in many countries.
It is clear that awards like the Zonta STEM Award not only promote individual success, but also make an important contribution to society to further advance gender equality in the STEM subjects.
