A dramatic evening in Schwandorf: A serious traffic accident occurred on Regensburger Straße on Tuesday. A 45-year-old driver was turning her BMW in front of the Sparkasse branch when she hit a 37-year-old motorcyclist who was traveling with his 34-year-old passenger. This impact was so violent that the motorcycle crashed into the driver's side of the BMW. All three people involved, all of whom come from Schwandorf, had to be treated by the emergency services. Central Bavarian reports that the 34-year-old suffered serious injuries while the other two escaped with minor injuries.
The emergency services, including three ambulances and an emergency doctor, were on site around 10:35 p.m. The Schwandorf fire department, led by city fire inspector Klaus Brunner, was also on duty with around 20 active members. Regensburger Straße was closed in both directions during the rescue work. The material damage amounts to at least 10,000 euros.
Another fatal accident in the region
While Schwandorf was dealing with this accident, another tragic incident happened on District Road 22 on Saturday morning. Here, a 63-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene of the accident after colliding head-on with a mobile home. The 60-year-old passenger on the motorcycle is currently in danger of death and had to be flown to hospital in a rescue helicopter. The driver of the motorhome and her partner were also taken to a clinic because of shock. An expert will clarify the exact course of the accident, reports Northern Bavaria.
