Forest fire in the Roth district: Fire brigade stops flames in front of houses!

A disturbing forest fire occurred in the Roth district on June 25, 2025, which initially seemed to get out of control. But thanks to the rapid and committed efforts of the fire brigade, the situation was quickly brought under control. The flames had moved dangerously close to the first few houses, leading to the evacuation of parts of the town and an assisted living facility. The affected people were relocated to a hall in the town while emergency services worked tirelessly to contain the threat, reports in Franconia.

The fire broke out near State Road 2239 near Kleinschwarzenlohe and reached up to 8,000 square meters. The fire originally started in around 1,000 square meters, but the fast winds and extreme dryness contributed to its rapid spread. Over 400 emergency services, including the fire department, civil protection and the district office, were mobilized to deal with the situation. The mountain rescue service and police helicopters with water containers were also deployed to extinguish the fire from the air Northern Bavaria reported.

The injured emergency services and the evacuation

The situation was serious: two firefighters suffered injuries - one even had to be taken to the hospital. Despite the injuries, there were fortunately no further injuries, which brought some relief to the emergency services. The German Weather Service had already warned of a high risk of forest fires in the region before the fire, which increased the pressure on the fire department to act quickly.

A total of around 60 people were evacuated from the assisted living facility in Wendelstein. They initially found refuge in a sports hall in Kleinschwarzenlohe. The cooperation between the emergency services was praised as exemplary by representatives of the community and the deputy mayor. “The coordination was exemplary,” he noted, while operations management and the waterworks worked hand in hand.

Night of re-extinguishing work

Although the fire is now under control, extinguishing work continues at full speed. Although the emergency services are to be reduced in the coming hours, the operation, which is intensified by the ongoing danger, will continue for much longer. A cloud of smoke is moving southeast and could affect neighboring communities. The fire brigade and civil protection are ready to intervene immediately if necessary to protect the population.

The region is now looking forward to further developments and hopes that the risk of forest fires will soon decrease. The joint effort shows once again how important cohesion and quick action are in crisis situations.
