Roth, Bayern, Deutschland - On July 6, 2025, Roth, near Nuremberg, was the scene of one of the largest long distance triathlon in the world: the Challenge Roth. Over 5,000 athletes and around 300,000 spectators ensured a rousing spectacle. Among these athletes, Vincent was larger, a 28-year-old triathlete from Fernwald, who faced this challenging competition. Greater in the professional category reached the 39th place and described the atmosphere of the event as emotional and full of goosebumps moments. "It was an experience that I will not forget so quickly," he said after the competition.

The competition, in which a distance of 3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling and 42.2 km running has to be covered, began at 6:30 a.m. with over 20,000 spectators on the Main-Donau Canal. Greater started with a solid swimming time of 56 minutes and 55 seconds and went directly to the first transition zone. During the bike route, he was able to join together with experienced professionals such as Joe Skipper and Bart Arnouts, which helped him get 15 positions up to the 140th mileage.

The Fernwalder delivered a remarkable part of his performance during the cycling, which he completed in 4 hours and 11 minutes. However, a pace sharpening of skipper scattered his group and that increased greater in the subsequent marathon. Despite a planned race, he had to pay tribute from kilometers, which affected his total time of 8 hours, 25 minutes and 27 seconds. He ended the marathon with a time of 3 hours and 14 minutes and 54 seconds.

The total challenge of this event demanded everything from the athletes. The water temperature was a pleasant 25.3 ° C, so Wetsuits were not allowed for the first time in the history of the event. For the men, Sam Laidlow from France secured victory in 7 hours, 29 minutes and 25 seconds - a historical success for him and the first time that a French athlete won this title. Jonas Schomburg and Jan Stratmann from Germany also took second and third place. Laura Philipp triumphed for women in 8:18:18 hours, followed by Grace Thek from Australia and the Swiss Alanis Siffert.

Now Vincent is planning to regenerate from this big competition before starting at the Frankfurt City Triathlon in early August. Due to his top performance and the experiences made, he is highly motivated to cut off greatly at this competition. "I learned a lot and look forward to the next challenge," he sums up optimistically.
